Familjen

I just returned from a 20 day trip to Sweden, ja! It was good fun, I was coaching some young wakeboarders. That’s what I do for a living, which has its perks.

While there, I was introduced to some more Swedish music. This band is called Familjen, and they make good stuff! How’s that for an intro? The first song has a pretty crazy awesome video. It is called Det snurrar i min skalle or It spins my head.

Next, there is no video for this song yet, but it’s also super happy good times. This one is called Det var jag or It was I.

Radical Face – Welcome Home, Son

Thank you Pandora for playing this song for me! It’s my instant new favorite. I think it may have come on while my Fleet Foxes station was going, not sure. I had a big quick mix going and this song popped up and just perked my ears up. Give it a listen, turn it up! I love when this happens! I just remembered it was the Beirut station, nice!

Pink Floyd 2001

2001: A Space OdysseyAs the name of this website would let you know, I am a fan of Pink Floyd. Their music provides possibly the best soundtrack for lying out under the stars and letting your mind go for a ride. Also in that vein is the movie 2001: A Space Odyssey. It’s just crazy awesome.

Somebody went and took the ending sequence in the movie and dubbed the Floyd song Echoes over the video in place of the original soundtrack, which really is equally as awesome. This version just provides an alternate soundtrack.

If you haven’t seen the movie, as somebody who hates to spoil a good thing, I would recommend bookmarking this post and saving it for later.

Go see the movie. It will blow your mind. Watch it in a dark room and block out all distractions while you watch the movie. Let it seep into your brain. Once you have done that, then watch this video. :)

So if you have a spare half hour some time, kick back, hit the full screen button and go for a little ride!

Robot Unicorn Attack

Today’s Terrific Tuesday has a bit of a twist. This little game is the most awesome gay little addicting game you may ever play. Part of what makes it so good is the soundtrack. The song is Always by Erasure.

Jump and dash to your dreams with Robot Unicorn Attack!

As a little bonus, here is the music video to the Erasure song.

The Raveonettes – Heart of Stone

This is a neat looking video to a super sounding song! I know nothing of the Raveonettes, except that this is some sweet shoegaze music and I’m going to check out their other stuff now.

Beck & Charlotte Gainsbourg

Beck & CharlotteBeck has released a new single that he recorded with Charlotte Gainsbourg. I really don’t know much about Charlotte, but I hope to give her work a listen to soon.

Beck, of course, is a musical genius. This song, called Heaven Can Wait, has a very Beck-like sound to it. The video, which is below there, has so much awesome randomness in it. If you’re into Beck, check out his website by clicking on his name up there in the first word of this post, or on the picture over there. His website is pretty cool and updated frequently with quality work from Mr. Hansen himself. Enjoy!

8-Bit Trip

This is the greatest thing I’ve seen and heard in a long time. Apparently the Lego construction took 1,500 hours to complete and film. The music is awesome original 8-bit goodness. The video is unbelievably detailed and brings back good memories. Man, I’ll be watching this one again and again.

The music is by Daniel Larsson. The animation is by Tomas Redigh. Rymdreglage is what they call themselves.

Lala’s Music Mover

Music MoverAnd now for something completely awesome. This little thing called the Music Mover can be found on Lala.com. I’m using it right now. Here’s what it does.

It will scan the music on your computer (it defaults to the My Music folder in your My Documents folder, but you can tell it to look elsewhere) for songs. For each song that you have on your computer and Lala.com has in their collection, you will have access to listen to that song on the website, from any computer. Of course, you need to have an account on the site, which is free, so that’s no problem.

Now, supposedly for the songs that aren’t available on Lala, the Music Mover will upload them from your computer. That means your entire music library will be available to you, and pretty quickly because it won’t have to upload most of the songs. Although if your music collection is primarily polka and irish drinking songs, you may have to wait a while for those to upload.

Another cool feature about it is that it will sync up with your playlists in iTunes, so you’ll have access to those too. Then, if you purchase songs on Lala, the mover will also download those songs to your computer. Pretty slick.

I’ve got over 12,000 songs for the mover to check out, so this is going to take some time to do all that. I’m already using it right now on Lala.com and I like it lots.

Get the Music Mover here.

Free 8-Bit Weezer Tribute Album

WomanHey Weezer fans! I know there are a lot of you out there, I’m a passive Weezer fan. I’ve actually seen them in concert. I think it was in 1996 or 1997. They opened for No Doubt and Ednaswap opened for them. It was a great show.

Anyway, I stumbled upon this here 8-bit Weezer tribute album. It’s pretty awesome. If you’re unfamiliar with the world of 8-bit awesomeness, let me explain a bit. There are some cool tools to crack into an original Nintendo Entertainment System. These tools allow the user to play with all the sounds the NES is capable of producing. This means that it can be played almost as if it were a synthesizer with truly original Nintendo sounds. In other words: the greatest thing to happen to music since the Fender Stratocaster!

I’ve just begun listening to this Weezer album, and it’s awesome. Very well done. The songs are performed by different artists, so it stays quite fresh throughout. I found out about it by searching for Anamanaguchi, a band featured on College Humor’s show Bleep Bloop. Oh, I forgot to mention that the entire album is free! Yeah!

So without further ado, Click here to go to the FREE album!

The rest of the site that hosts the album looks pretty cool too. Can’t wait to listen to the other tunes on there.

Just today I’ve been rocking pretty loudly to this Machine Radio Station on Pandora. It came from some ad work promoting the latest Terminator movie, which I still haven’t seen.

The seeds for the station are Daft Punk, The Chemical Brothers, Nine Inch Nails, and The Crystal Method. It’s got me pretty riled up at the moment, woooo!!!

So click here and crank it up sucka!
