Marina has a new video out. For site visitors who know me, Marina’s music may seem a bit off the spectrum of what I usually listen to. Well, you’re right, but look at her, she’s smoking hot! Also, she writes her own music, as far as I know, and I respect that. So yes, it’s quite poppy, but I don’t mind watching and listening. She’s got a pretty cool voice as well. So enjoy!
Röyksopp – Senior
Röyksopp has a new album due out on September 13th, 2010. You can listen to it via stream right now over at Hype Machine or also at the bottom of this post.
Here’s how they describe the new album, which is a follow up to Junior, in their newsletter:
Senior is the introverted, dwelling and sometimes graceful counterpart to last year’s Junior: brim-full with dark secrets and distorted memories, insisting “I’m old, I’ve got experience…” Senior is furthermore an album about age, horses and being subdued, with devils breathing down your neck.
Each track is equally as important as its predecessor and successor. We feel that none of the tracks should be regarded outside of this context. Quite a “brave”/stupid thing to do in this day & age of iPods and cherrypicking, one might suggest. We couldn’t agree more – hell that’s even probably why we did it.
I dig it!
Mines by Menomena
New Menomena album! Woo! I haven’t mentioned them on this site before, but they are a trio from my home state of Oregon.
I am streaming the album to my ears right now from the site linked to below. I suggest you do the same if you like quality original music.

Familjen
I just returned from a 20 day trip to Sweden, ja! It was good fun, I was coaching some young wakeboarders. That’s what I do for a living, which has its perks.
While there, I was introduced to some more Swedish music. This band is called Familjen, and they make good stuff! How’s that for an intro? The first song has a pretty crazy awesome video. It is called Det snurrar i min skalle or It spins my head.
Next, there is no video for this song yet, but it’s also super happy good times. This one is called Det var jag or It was I.
Radical Face – Welcome Home, Son
Thank you Pandora for playing this song for me! It’s my instant new favorite. I think it may have come on while my Fleet Foxes station was going, not sure. I had a big quick mix going and this song popped up and just perked my ears up. Give it a listen, turn it up! I love when this happens! I just remembered it was the Beirut station, nice!
Happy Mother’s Day from John Lennon, Danzig, and Pink Floyd
Happy Mother’s Day to all of you Mothers out there! Here is a trio of songs entitled Mother. The Pink Floyd video is from a VHS but has sound dubbed over the top from the live concert CD, so the sound quality is great, but the sync gets off a bit. Enjoy!
WhoMadeWho
Here’s a nice little video. The band is WhoMadeWho, and the song is called Keep Me In My Plane.
Jon Lajoie Can Dance
Enjoy the latest masterpiece by Canadian Jon Lajoie! Be sure to watch the video all the way through, good stuff indeed.
If you haven’t seen his work before, be sure to check out his other tasteless, offensive, and hilarious videos at his YouTube channel.
Pink Floyd 2001
As the name of this website would let you know, I am a fan of Pink Floyd. Their music provides possibly the best soundtrack for lying out under the stars and letting your mind go for a ride. Also in that vein is the movie 2001: A Space Odyssey. It’s just crazy awesome.
Somebody went and took the ending sequence in the movie and dubbed the Floyd song Echoes over the video in place of the original soundtrack, which really is equally as awesome. This version just provides an alternate soundtrack.
If you haven’t seen the movie, as somebody who hates to spoil a good thing, I would recommend bookmarking this post and saving it for later.
Go see the movie. It will blow your mind. Watch it in a dark room and block out all distractions while you watch the movie. Let it seep into your brain. Once you have done that, then watch this video.
So if you have a spare half hour some time, kick back, hit the full screen button and go for a little ride!
Trololo Part 2
The other title I considered for this post was Trololo Shreds. That’s right, the Trololo guy has been dubbed with even more awesomeness. Thanks to Kim, the wife of my good friend Ryan, for sharing this with me. Pure genius!
