First Installment of Terrible Tuesday

I think having a weekly horrible music video is a great idea! I don’t know about you, but I really dig many of them, and I want to share my finds with the world. Most, I’ve found, have a redeeming quality, which is usually humor. Sometimes, they’re so bad that it’s fun to watch because of all the horrible.

So, I give you I Wanna Love You Tender by Mervi Vesala. I think the dude kind of looks like He-Man. I found this video years ago and still can’t get enough of it. Enjoy!

The Sounds US Tour 2009

The SoundsThe Sounds are a Swedish band who have released two albums and have a third due to release in June 2009. Maja Ivarsson is the lead singer, and has a pretty recognizable voice. It’s not quite raspy, and I’m not sure what it is, but I dig it. How was that for a great description?

Anyway, they’ve got some quality music, great for listening to when you want to get some energy flowing through your ears. They just started their massive US tour where they’ll start in the Midwest, then on to California, then across the Southern states to where I’m at in Florida, then over to Europe for a bit. They finish things off with a long stay jumping all over California.

Check out the tour dates on their Myspace page.

Here’s a sample of my favorite song of theirs. I recommend increasing the volume of your speakers significantly. Enjoy Painted by Numbers:

Pants and Mouth

Now, this wouldn’t really be that much of a music blog without referring to the video by The Lonely Island: Jizz in My Pants. So, here ya go, genius:

That’s been around for a little while now, but a response to that just showed up recently. Check out the female rebuttal to that video. So quality:

Solid Gold by The Golden Filter

Here’s a neat video for your eyes and ears to enjoy! I don’t know much about any of this, but I intend on researching a bit more. The band is The Golden Filter, the song is Solid Gold, and Moop Jaw made the video. I don’t know what’s going on, all I know is I like it, and I like it loud! Click through to Vimeo for the HD version yo.

YouTube Favorites

Here is a group of some videos on YouTube that are have quite a few views, and are just random awesome musical goodness.

First is Gnarls Barkley’s Crazy being played on a theremin. Theremins are pretty cool. You control the pitch and volume of it by moving your hand toward and away from the two metal rods.

Next is this little tune called Ievan Polkka. I really don’t know much about it, but the quartet performing it is called Loituma. The song is Finnish and they are Finnish as well. Beware, this will be in your head all day!

Next on the list is this neat little Cadbury chocolate commercial. So very random, love the eyebrows and the balloon solo at the end.

Finally, it’s time for some abounding excitement! At Space Camp all kind of awesome happened! Brent Simon rocks the synthesizer on this one expressing his good memories of Space Camp. It’s even got subtitles to help you memorize the song, sweet.

Pet Shop Boys

Lately I’ve been pretty into the Pet Shop Boys. Neil Tennant’s voice is so soothing and 80′s-esque. They’ve continued to make music, which I hadn’t known about until just last year. I’m still discovering things that aren’t so new from them, but that are new to me. Apparently, they’ve got a new album due out March 23 called Yes. I’m pretty excited about that.

Here are a couple videos, since I’ve been real into posting music videos lately, for your enjoyment. The first is Flamboyant. The video has great Asian entertainment videos in it. I love the performing style of re-creating different activities. The way they do the slow motion and camera angle changes is brilliant! So enjoy it, along with the song:

Next is a song I just discovered through Pandora this morning on my Goodbye station on Pandora. The song is appropriately titled We’re The Pet Shop Boys. It’s apparently Robbie Williams with The Pet Shop Boys. They slip a little chorus line from an older song you may recognize in there. It’s another great soothing not-quite-80′s sounding song. Love it!

Red House

A few years back, my Dad had been watching the DVD of the Fender Stratocaster’s 50th anniversary. The concert featured a number of great guitar players, and the performances were mixed in quality. He sat me down and showed me some highlights, then he said to just sit back and enjoy this, which invitation I extend to you:

Yeah, well done Gary Moore, well done. Neither of us had heard of him, but man, that was one of the greatest covers I’ve ever seen. The man can play a mean blues guitar. I love the part around 5-8 minutes where he breaks it down and just works the guitar as it was meant to be used.

That’s all for now, I recommend watching that video on occasion, as it still gives me goosebumps every time I take 10 minutes to view it. I think Jimi would be proud to see his song treated with such respect.
